After 30 years and 25,000+ demonstrations, where time and time again people are being blown away by what they are seeing and experiencing, both in person and as shown on social media (500 million views and counting!) ... we're finally getting this properly studied.

We just started doing formal research on the True Mirror phenomenon, including FACS automated facial analysis, surveys, and long term interviews. You can see many similar videos on social media (@truemirrorco)

Your eyes and face communicate properly when spatially accurate (not reversed). They don't work right when reversed.

We've all adapted to our reverse face. We had to. But it's not the way you actually are, and no one ever told you - your mirror image has been with you since childhood, but when you study faces in reverse, they express differently. We are different to ourselves than we are with everyone else, simply because your natural expressions are reversed and stop communicating naturally.

Here's what we found right away when we started looking for numbers:

• Most (87%,n=200) people surveyed immediately saw the difference, with a surprisingly high number of gratitude comments along with many other positive emotions.

• Expressions become 1.5-6.3x more animated and sustained for

• People spontaneously describe the mechanism once they get an idea of what's going on (Usually most need to know that this difference is present, like showing them there is an on switch for an electric bike)

They say things like:

"There's no expression in them" (about regular mirrors)

"Everything feels muted"

"Hard to witness myself"

"It stops" / "I lost it"

vs in the True Mirror:

"I finally see ME!

"There's like more light"

"The sparkle that I've always heard about but never believed... I can see it now!"

"When did I become this capable bright soul that this mirror shows?"

Here's the thing: Your expressions don't "message right" in regular mirrors. The mechanics work—you CAN smile, you CAN show emotion. But the communication function of what you are thinking and feeling fails and expressions become fleeting. Authentic expressions, especially those with "eyeshine" collapse within 0.2-2.7 seconds in regular mirrors. In True Mirrors? They sustain for 5-48 seconds! Turning to laughter no less! And joy many times...we get to see ourselves as active vibrant and beautiful beings.

Our Story

True Mirror Company was formed in 1992 by founder, John Walter, who first independently discovered 10 years earlier that a true image reflection was possible by putting two mirrors together at right angles.

It wasn't a new idea, actually patented in 1887, but no one ever saw it as more than a physical curiosity.

The key was the light in his eyes when he was smiling.

For the first time, it looked natural, as if seeing another person smile back easily.

It's our belief that True Mirrors are scientifically proven to be better than any mirror we've ever known as a society.
